Rayon fabrics,
cut on the bias, are used to create these faux chenille scarves. The bias
pieces are stacked five to seven layers high, and then stitched through all
layers at ˝-inch intervals. The top two layers are cut through between the
rows of stitching, and the bottom two layers are cut through between the
stitching, leaving the middle layer uncut, except at the ends, where the
fringe is formed by cutting through all layers.
The scarf is
washed, and then dried in a dryer with a fabric softener sheet. The scarf
may require several wash and dry cycles to obtain the “bloom” desired for
the faux chenille. They are soft and warm as well as fashionable.
These scarves
can be machine washed (cool or warm) and dried in the dryer with a fabric
softener sheet. |
